Reflections from our stand at Maison & Objet Paris—and what they reveal about the future of lighting.

We just returned from Maison & Objet in Paris (Hall 3, Stand E99), and it confirmed what we have been feeling for a while: the lighting industry is splitting into two directions.
Direction 1: Technology-driven. Smart home integration, tunable CCT, voice control. Important, but not what excites us.
Direction 2: Object-driven. Lighting as sculpture. Lighting as the centerpiece of a room rather than a background utility. This is where MOSS lives.
At our stand, the most common reaction to Kosmos was not 'what is the lumen output?'—it was 'can I touch it?' That tells you everything about where high-end residential and hospitality lighting is going. People want pieces that feel handmade, that have texture, that reward close inspection.
Three trends are clear: modularity over monolithic pieces, warm metals over cool chrome, and 'editorial interiors' designed with publication in mind. Kosmos, available Q2, is our response to all three.
