MOSS explores what luminaires can be.
Who we are.
MOSS Objects is an independent lighting brand creating architectural luminaires defined by structural clarity and sculptural restraint. The brand explores light as a spatial element rather than a technical necessity, designing pieces that hold presence through proportion, balance and material precision.
At the core of MOSS Objects is a modular approach to construction. Each luminaire is built as a system, capable of evolving, extending or adapting, while maintaining design continuity. Materials such as aluminium, brass, steel and oak are selected for their integrity and longevity, expressed through exacting connections and refined surface treatments.
While minimal in expression, the work often carries quiet references to natural geometry, translated into engineered form rather than decoration. Every piece is produced through thoughtful partnerships with expert makers, ensuring technical integrity and long-lasting construction.
The result is a collection of lighting that feels both exact and human, pieces designed not to dominate space, but to define it quietly and intelligently.

Our pieces have been published in many international publications, both print and online.

Designed and manufactured in Germany.
MOSS luminaires are produced in collaboration with specialist workshops in Germany. This allows for precise construction, controlled finishes and a close dialogue between design and fabrication. Working locally gives us the ability to test, refine and iterate quickly – ensuring every component is resolved not only in form, but in material behaviour over time.

The founder.
Daniel Becker is a designer who explores the relationship between material, construction and light. Educated at the Braunschweig University of Art, he has spent over a decade developing luminaires that balance architectural clarity with spatial atmosphere. Before founding MOSS Objects, he led his own studio and collaborated with international brands, creating work defined by precision, proportion and restraint.
MOSS Objects grew from a desire for creative independence, to build lighting with
integrity in both function and material. Daniel works primarily with metal, embracing
visible construction, modular thinking and a sculptural approach grounded in engineering logic. He believes design should be purposeful and quietly expressive, shaping the character of a space over time.
