Specifying MOSS Lighting: From Enquiry to Completed Installation

Specifying MOSS lighting follows a defined process, but one that accommodates the particular constraints of each project. From initial enquiry through to on-site coordination, MOSS works directly with the specifying architect at each stage — not through distributors. This guide outlines what to expect and what to prepare.

Starting the Specifying MOSS Lighting Process

The process begins with a project enquiry to info@mossobjects.com. Include the room dimensions, ceiling height, and any particular constraints — low-voltage installation, heritage restrictions, unusually high or low ceilings. If you have early sketches or mood boards, sharing them at this stage is helpful but not required.

MOSS will respond with a preliminary recommendation — which collection or configuration is likely to work, what dimensions make sense, and whether custom modifications might be relevant. For most residential projects, this initial response comes within two business days. For larger contract projects, a call is typically scheduled to discuss requirements in more depth.

Finish Samples

Finish samples are available free of charge for trade professionals. We strongly recommend reviewing samples in the actual space before committing to a finish. Standard Emily samples show the lacquered finishes — including the bestselling Anthracite semi-matte — while Emily Oxid samples show the unique naturally aged patina. Either can be requested for assessment in your project space.

Lead Times

Standard lead times for MOSS luminaires are eight to twelve weeks from order confirmation. Custom dimensions or unusual specifications may extend this to fourteen weeks. For project-critical timelines, communicate your installation date early — production scheduling can accommodate phased deliveries.

Emily Oxid pieces may require additional lead time if specific surface characteristics are being matched across multiple units. We allocate material at the point of order to ensure consistency within a project batch.

Technical Data

Technical data sheets are available for all standard configurations. These include fixture weight, mounting depth, canopy dimensions, cable length options, LED specification (CRI > 95, 2700K standard, tuneable on request), and dimmer compatibility (DALI, Casambi, trailing-edge). If your project requires specific photometric data or IES files, request them at the time of enquiry.

On-Site Coordination

MOSS provides detailed mounting instructions with each delivery. For complex or multi-unit installations — clustered pendants, curved rail configurations, ceiling-integrated systems — we are available to speak directly with your electrical contractor. Coordination calls are included at no additional charge.
