Emily Oxid: When Patina Becomes the Design

Emily Oxid is not a treatment, a coating, or a process that can be applied on demand. The Emily Oxid patina pendant is formed from metal sheets that spent decades in a barn — ageing naturally in an uncontrolled environment, exposed to humidity, temperature change, and time. The result is a patina that is unique to those specific sheets, in that specific sequence of conditions. MOSS Objects holds a finite quantity of this material, and when it is gone, Emily Oxid will not be reproduced.
How Emily Oxid Differs From the Standard Emily Collection
The standard Emily collection is available in a range of lacquered finishes — Anthracite semi-matte is the bestselling option, consistently chosen for its versatility across residential and commercial contexts. These are reproducible, consistent, and available across the full Emily range. Emily Oxid is a separate variant: the same form, a completely different surface. Where the lacquered Emily is reliable and consistent, Emily Oxid is individual. Each piece carries a surface that no other piece will exactly share.
Where the Emily Oxid Patina Pendant Works in Interior Projects
Emily Oxid performs best in interiors that already have a layered material character. Spaces with natural timber, aged stone, linen textiles, or raw plaster are well suited to the Oxid surface because the material logic is consistent: these are surfaces shaped by process and time, not by applied finish. In minimalist interiors with predominantly white or polished surfaces, the Oxid can feel misaligned. The conversation with MOSS is the right place to assess suitability.
Requesting Emily Oxid Samples
Emily Oxid samples are available on request. Because the surface varies across the available material stock, samples give a representative — not exact — indication of what the final piece will carry. Interior architects who want to assess the Oxid surface in the context of a specific finish palette are encouraged to bring samples to site before confirming a commission. MOSS is transparent about availability and lead times at enquiry stage.
