Emily V8 Oxid pendant light by MOSS Objects

Emily V8 Oxid

Emily Oxid is formed from aged steel plates whose surfaces have developed unique patterns through years of weathering. These naturally evolved textures are preserved and shaped into the shades, making each piece materially singular.

Handmade in Germany

Each shade is entirely handmade by skilled craftsmen in Berlin.

This allows for precise construction, controlled finishes and a close dialogue between design and fabrication. Working locally gives us the ability to test, refine and iterate quickly – ensuring every component is resolved not only in form, but in material behaviour over time

  • Emily was inspired by the "James Bond Islands" series by Andreas Gursky, where digitally arranged landforms appear to float above a flat horizon line. Their heterogenous shapes still read as a family; singular, organic, pyramidal silhouettes held together by proportion and distance.

This logic was translated into a series of lampshades that can be suspended in relation to one another, creating a floating landscape of light. Depending on height and colour composition, Emily can shift character and read differently within the room.

From the beginning, Emily was conceived as a metal object; material known for its structural integrity and the
    way it evolves over time.

However, producing these shapes at small scale challenged conventional tooling. Instead of large industrial presses, we returned to older methods of free-form metal forming, similar to those used in early automotive workshops.

Each shade is cut, bent, formed, welded and sanded by hand.
A complex physical process that gives Emily its natural,
    organic geometry.
